meet farida Rafique
Farida Rafique, a Los Angeles-based producer/impact producer and filmmaker, draws on her extensive experience in refugee support work. She interned in film development early in her career, specializing in horror and thriller screenplays. Transitioning to television development, she later immersed herself in social impact storytelling.
Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Media Management from California State University, Farida's passion for storytelling is inseparable from her dedication to Human Rights advocacy and community building. Her portfolio includes impactful videos and art installations like "Love Letters to an Addict" (centered on Recovery and Hope for Opioid Addicts), micro-documentaries for the Human Rights Initiative, and co-production of a documentary addressing the Family Separation Crisis on the Texas-Mexico border. Her short film, Ojo, delves into a son's reckoning with his family's concealed history of white supremacy following his mother's passing.
Farida has played a pivotal role in producing impact campaigns for writer/director-led projects such as Moon, Bienvenidos a Los Angeles, and The Magic Ticket in the narrative film sphere. Her commitment to social impact has led her to engage with initiatives like Film North's Socially Conscious Filmmaking Lab ('20) and Women in Media's Camaraderie Accelerator ('21).
Inspired by stories of resilience, Farida's work is deeply rooted in empathy and human interconnectedness. Her upcoming venture includes an Empathy-based Podcast series focusing on impact and human experiences.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Farida is a devoted pet parent, an older Sister, and a perpetual learner.
