The impact producer works with the producers from pre-production or pre-launch through distribution by producing campaigns, building partnerships, and implementing engagement and community outreach.

The impact consultant provides strategy and communications and sets initial impact initiatives for the project. The impact consultant works with product marketing or marketing and development departments to generate stakeholder and partner interest for pre-launch, grant writing, funding, and promotional materials.

It is recommended if you are unsure about how enormous the scope of the work and the timeline is but are interested in promoting the impact goals and starting to raise funds.

In independent or micro-budget films, bringing on the impact producer early in pre-production or development is a good practice.

The impact goals of the film’s producing team drive the stage when the impact producer joins.

An impact producer can join in after production or in post-production, too, if the filmmakers decide later that they want to go with an impact campaign and give back to the community.
